    Surfing with SideKick

    Soul Surfing
The excitement is back! Remember the feeling of riding when you first started, when surfing was new. The Side-Kicktm wing-fins put the fun back into surfing. Now you can get back to the soul of surfing... where style dominates over those knock-you-over-the-head ultra radical moves. This is the new school of fish in the sea. The ones who prefer to get back in tune with riding one of the great forces of nature.

Essentially the Side-Kicktm wing-fins give the surfer the performance ability to ride another line. This isn't an acrobatic type of surfing but an Ocena style, in harmony with the spirit of the wave, elegant smooth flowing S-turns slicing higher lines of travel. This is the board which attempts to approach the Ghost - the Soul Surfer - the Phantom Rider on the wave, gliding along with power strength and speed.

    Tube Riding
The Side-Kicktm is the World's Premier Tube Rider. The wing-fins work best in 5 foot or more, large, powerful, steep surf conditions. It is recommended that the surfboard with wing-fins be used under these specific conditions. The most favorable results can be expected in the fast hollow section of steep powerful waves with large tubes or faces. Here is where the wing-fins can be used to their fullest extent.

If you're interested in going down-the-line in style with grace and speed then the Side-Kicktm wing-fins are the performance enhancement for you. A board with these wings is made for long perfect tubes.

We don't throw a lot of spray and we don't gouge through turns. We don't do a hard bottom turn, go vertical to the lip and snap off a 180. Instead, we offer a more subtle excitement which combines speed and control. A board with the Side-Kicktm wing-fins rides parallel in-line with the barrel carving the wall.

So if you have the wave, the desire, and a progressive attitude, then we have the newest addition for your quiver.

    Techniques:
The Side-Kicktm wing-fins on your board will produce very smooth stable speed that is easy to obtain and maintain through the fastest sections of the wave. In practice, a bottom turn is not necessary since the board can drop-in on an angle and can conserve its initial momentum.

Its best qualities are realized when the board glides down the line of the hollow section of the wave holding the line similar to a longboard. You will immediately notice how the board hangs-in and can easily climb to the top of the wave with very little effort.

It can also maintain a higher line of attack near the peak of the wave, in the 'power pocket'. Weighting the board will cause the wing-fin to easily turn the board in a natural arc which isn't as sharp as conventional boards but it is much less physically demanding. The wing-fins act to stabilize the board in whitewater and should provide for longer rides.

The Side-Kicktm wing-fins provide a boost or kick in a different direction. When the wing-fin is engaged you can notice a transition of power and stability as the wing kicks in.

The Side-Kicktm is a departure from current board design and performance. It offers a newer style of surfing while still remaining true to the olde fashioned traditional style of wave riding. The Side-Kicktm style of surfing is based on long arcs and smooth carving slalom S-turns on the wall - rather than the short quick turns and stunt-like maneuvers of modern surfing.

    Styles:
The Side-Kicktm wing-fins allow the rider to use a new style in riding the wave. New possibilities can be achieved, similar to the riding style of longboarders, although down the barrel riding is optimized. A big board feel is felt by making a shortboard seem thicker and wider.

A board with the wings has better initial speed without losing the momentum in a bottom turn and instead can go down-the-line while dropping-in. The wing-fin provides more freedom in trying and inventing new tricks enabling maneuvers like those of skateboards.

Ideally the winged board allows the surfer to carve S-turns down the face of the wave in the barrel. With the wings engaged it is easy to instantly climb to the top of the wave without much effort. Here you have the ability to explore new ways to ride and new styles to experiment.
